…seen in a Facebook post. Good story!
Grandmother Says… Carrots, Eggs, or Coffee; “Which are you?”
A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.
Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her granddaughter, she asked, “Tell me what do you see?”
“Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied.
She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it.
After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.
Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The granddaughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The granddaughter then asked. “What’s the point, grandmother?”
Her grandmother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity–boiling water–but each reacted differently.
The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.
The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.
“Which are you?” she asked her granddaughter.
“When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?”
Think of this: Which am I?
Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?
Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?
As I read this, I thought of a perfect companion to this concept! GODpillow offers several expressions on pillows and prayer kneelers that echo this sentiment! “Be the Change,” “I Create My Reality,” and “Manifest!” See more at our Inspirational Throw Pillows page.
Whether you pray or simply meditate, taking a moment to stop, slow down and sit quietly can truly help you get through a hectic day…a hectic week…a hectic month. It does not matter who the God of your understanding is; it’s this quiet reflection, a simple moment to speak and listen to the higher answers, that helps you be your best.
A Whispered Prayer
Submitted by: Hope Wilbanks
Finding time to pray after becoming a mother has been challenging. I find myself consumed with the daily tasks of laundry, dishes, house cleaning, chauffeuring, etc. At the end of the day I’m tired from the full day of activities. The extra time I once devoted to prayer or bible study has been consumed by children and family duties.
I find myself feeling guilty at times. I long for that quiet time with God. I’ve felt that gap, that space where God used to be, empty and dry.
I remember my Maw praying during the day. At times, you wouldn’t even realize it unless you heard the “s” sounds as she whispered the name of Jesus. I never could hear every word of her prayers, but the knowledge that Maw was in constant prayer throughout the day comforted me. Perhaps she learned something important that I’m beginning to understand.
Whispered prayers may not be boisterous or cause one to stop and literally kneel while praying. But they are just as powerful as any prayer spoke aloud.
I wonder what Maw’s whispered prayers were. Did she pray for her lost children and grandchildren? Did she pray for family members, that God would protect them and guide them? Did she pray for the people in her community?
I remember those whispered prayers and remind myself that I can pray at any time of the day. Continual prayer and meditation on Jesus all day brings me closer to Jesus. Keeping the mind of Christ as I go about my daily chores of caring for my family keeps me on the right path.
I may not be able to steal away and spend an hour alone with God each day. I can whisper prayers to Him though. And one day my children will know that it isn’t always in the pomp and show of public prayer, but the whispered prayers of a saint of God are just as important in touching the throne of God.

There are many places and organizations that offer new age healing to their clients. They offer different methods to incorporate the lessons that can be learned through the techniques. Some methods work well on people, while other methods are not nearly as helpful. It is important to find a company that gives clients the best that the industry has to offer so they can experience all of the benefits. There are certain things to look for that will allow clients to get everything they want and need out of the techniques.
When people take advantage of the techniques offered with these methods, it is best to find a company that offers visual aids. Visual aids can stimulate the mind in ways that reading material cannot. Visual aids can also allow the imagination to be triggered, which can be an incredibly useful tool. It has been discovered that visual aids trigger the subconscious, which is very important with these types of techniques. It is necessary for the subconscious mind to be awakened.
Audio aids are also effective in new age healing. Just like visual aids, they can stimulate the mind and enter the subconscious in ways that reading material cannot. That makes them much more effective than books on the topic. One of the biggest concepts with this method is that the subconscious must be reached so it can be brought to the surface. Audio and visual aids can help reach the subconscious in a way that does not require much work for the user.
Effective methods will also stay on top of cutting edge techniques. A company that is effective will give users the newest techniques available. The company will grow as the industry grows. They will understand that there is always more to learn when it comes to new age healing. They will seek out new information and methods. That will allow the company to give their customers the techniques that will best help them.
Effective companies will also use methods of today, along with age old methods, in order to get the best techniques possible. By incorporating both kinds of methods, they will be able to better serve their clients. They will be able to give their clients the best of the new and the old in order to find an effective treatment for them that will work in all situations. Some of the best methods have been around for years, and by combining them with the methods of today, people can truly get the most out of the techniques.
Simone Zone offers the best in new age healing. They use visual and audio aids to help their clients. They also incorporate cutting edge technology into their methods. They stay on top of all of the new technology and information. They use the methods of today along with age old methods that have been used for centuries. Holisitc Healing: True Healing is in Being Whole
Submitted by: Terry Small
Holistic healing is about using natural approaches in order to regain balance physically and mentally. Natural health remedies are common but are not the focus. The main focus is overall well being and peace of mind.
When a person is in need of healing much of the energy of that person is focused on the pain and discomforts caused by the ailment. Since the purpose of natural healing is to keep a total balance, the ailment needs to be healed to eliminate the distraction. Only then will the balance of focus return. This sort of healing should never replace proper medical attention especially with more sever ailments.
Holistic healing is derived from the meaning “whole” because of the focus to address total balance of a person and not just one aspect. It is way of being more connected to the elements and obtaining the fulfillment of living better through natural discovery. Every person has their own individual path, though there are some basic fundamentals that carry through every aspect.
One of the fundamental aspects is spiritual beliefs and values. Although it doesn’t matter what religion one is a part of, the spiritual beliefs must carry one to a higher plain. It is about being good to others, tending to meaningful relationships, caring for the environment in balance and having compassion and acceptance for others. It is about finding the inner being that promotes everything good and running with what one finds inside. It is about appreciating the elements in nature that were given for the purpose of balance and healing.
Many diseases and pains are caused by the lack of a nutritious diet or because of abuse to the physical body. Much of the discomforts of life are self inflicted and can be prevented or fixed with common sense activities such as exercise and proper sleep. Many emotional or mental ailments are caused by selfish ambitions or a lack of control of thoughts that lead to an untethered view on reality. This does not mean that every physical or psychological ailment is self-inflicted. All it means is that many of the discomforts in life are related to each other and can be healed through a more balanced and selfless life.
There are many forms of holistic therapies including energy-based therapies like chakra work, prayerful intention, acupuncture, aromatherapy, exercise and a natural diet. In addition there are herbal, Ayurveda and Chinese medicines.
There are many more forms of these therapies with everything from energy work using massage stones to positive affirmations for mental health. The key is to begin to explore some of the techniques and to find what works best for each individual. Only the individual will truly know what is best for them. Still, it is wise to seek advise from those that are experts in their own industry. At the end of the day we are all spiritual beings clothed in physical bodies trying to find the balance of both. Equilibrium does not come over night; it comes one step at a time. Do not run faster than you have strength.
Guided Meditation – the Easiest Way to Deep Meditation
Submitted by: Martin P Kerrigan
Using a guided meditation is the easiest and fastest way to achieve deep meditation. Whether it be for beginners or for the experienced meditator. Guided meditations use either binaural beats or isochronic tones pitched at specific frequencies to affect targeted areas of the brain.
Naturally, the question is: what is a guided meditation and how does it help me achieve deep meditation? The answer lies in the use of the monaural, binaural and isochronic beats which are at the heart of this method.
Monaural beats are a single pulse at a single frequency which is repeated beneath other soothing sounds. Think the soft whoomp of a slow ceiling fan.
Binaural beats are a repetitive beat which is phased at different frequencies to each ear. When the difference in these frequencies is between 10 – 30 hertz the brain compensates for the difference by creating a third tone equal to that difference. This captures the conscious mind and it gradually begins to attune to the pulse of the tones. The purpose is to quiet the conscious mind of its continuous jangle of thoughts and allow the subconscious mind to express its creativity and curiosity.
Isochronic tones on the other hand, are created by an evenly spaced pulsing of tones at a far higher frequency (although variable depending on the purpose of the meditation) which rapidly synchronizes the brain patterns with the pulse. Overlaid with the sounds of rain, water, wind, ocean and music, the effect is a rapid and effortless reduction of the constant chatter in our minds. Pound for pound, isochronic tones are far more powerful than either monaural or binaural beats, especially when it comes to guided meditation.
What this means is that using isochronic tones allows the mind to rapidly achieve a very relaxed state and immediately begin to fall into deep meditation. Another advantage of using a guided meditation, is that no effort is required on the part of the meditator. In fact, the more passive you are, the better. You just listen to the soothing sounds of water, wind, rain and music with the pulse in the background, while your mind effortlessly achieves deep meditation. When the mp3 finishes, you are pleasantly surprised because your conscious mind has been elsewhere, allowing the creativity of the sub-conscious mind to surface. As you become accustomed to listening to the mp3 meditation, it is possible to easily induce a deep meditation simply by remembering the sound of the binaural beats or isochronic tones. In other words, your brain remembers the effects!
By varying the speed and the content of the binaural beats or isochronic tones, it is possible to accurately target the areas of your life that you wish to improve. Whether it be for stress relief, lowering blood pressure, (yes, that is just one of meditation’s benefits), reducing cholesterol, achieving lucid dreaming or even awakening your esp, using a guided meditation download will assist you in achieving them all. They really do change your mind.
Kindness is more important than wisdom.
